Sarah's introduction

Founder of Cultivating Wholeness, a network-based global coaching and advisory firm, Sarah is a PCC ICF certified Executive Coach and acts as a catalyst for personal, cultural and organizational transformation.

She supports leaders of purpose-led start-ups or organisations to bring forth a profound shift in their strategy through regenerative principles and empower them to role model the behaviors driven by their values and purpose. Enabling their business to be a life-affirming positive force in stewarding our planet on a regenerative path.

To do so, she leverages more than 10 years of experience coaching senior leaders in MNCs through their cultural transformations across Asia, Europe, and North America combined by her rich personal development through adversity.

What brought you to sustainability?

Since I can recall, I have always had a curiosity and deep connection with nature. From playing in the mud as a kid, to being filled with joy, energized and nourished walking through an old growth forest. It's been an important teacher that motivated my research during my master's in fossil fuel divestment at the Conference of Parties back in 2014 in Peru. As well as an essential tool throughout my career to radically improve organisational resilience, dynamics and performance by integrating natures structures or decision-making models best adapted to complex and volatile environments.

When I took the leap to start my business, I wanted it to make it explicit in becoming a catalyst in stewarding our planet on a regenerative path. Shining the light on nature's teachings can help us address the complex challenges we face within ourselves, our relationships, our organisations and our ecosystems.

Which sustainable actions are you in charge of or have you implemented in your organisation?

As a coach and advisor, I provide safe spaces, to spark insights, facilitate deep dialogue, and catalyze authentic change for this necessary transformation in leadership consciousness to aid in the regeneration of our planet.

I’ve coached senior leaders to build their internal capability to role model the behavior for a healthy and empowering culture and to navigate with ease the complexity of their environment, giving them clarity, confidence and purpose in their decision making.

I’ve coached female senior leaders to gain the skill to reconnect to their voice in male-dominated environments, gaining confidence, and helping them access new leadership positions.

I’ve coached & advised founders in identifying their individual and organizational purpose and integrating lived values throughout their businesses.

I've facilitated and advised product teams to integrate their Zero Harm Strategy.I’ve facilitated and advised leadership teams in designing and implementing an empowered self-organising structure and governance framework.

I’ve successfully led and facilitated numerous organisational and cultural transformations to embed resiliency, agility and adaptability into the business. And more..

Which challenges did you meet and how did you overcome them?

With change comes resistance.

In my 10 years of experience coaching leadership & consulting for enterprises & cultural transformation, I've seen a lot of different types of resistance, across multiple organizations through various industries.

The first one is WHY!

When people don’t get the why, how it will impact their daily work life, it does not put them in a state where they are Able Ready and especially Willing to invest time and energy. Starting with WHY are we doing this? Not any type of  WHY, one that speaks to everyone, not just to certain stakeholders.

The second is Immunity to Change.

It can arise through your personal development, with protective parts or limiting beliefs that hold you back from bringing into reality the change you want to see in your life. This same pattern applies to organisations, even societies. Where we have a common narrative, beliefs that no longer serve your context.

A way to overcome this is to combine the WHY with a co-creative and collaborative approach integrated at all levels of the organisation, with key actors from top to bottom. It is the best way to drive momentum, generate engagement, and diminish friction. This creates space for conversation, challenge to face the collective limiting beliefs and immunities as you integrate the change and lead by example.

What are you most proud of?

Everytime I see the spark of life, possibility and insight in the eyes of a client.

When I receive a  testimonial from my clients on how I’ve changed or impacted positively their life, their work, their relationship with their partners or kids. It makes it all worthwhile!

Being the change I want to see in the world especially when I took the leap to start my own business, leading with courage, being integral to my purpose, values. Ultimately being part of creating a future I know is possible with the dawn of the regenerative era.
